Occupational health and safety law in Ontario has seen some significant changes in the past twelve months; and further developments are on the horizon.

This webinar will summarize those recent changes, and will provide employers with a roadmap to navigate some key compliance obligations that lie ahead. In particular, this session will address:

Presenters: Jason Beeho and Ryan Campbell, Rubin Thomlinson LLP

Jason Beeho is a partner with Rubin Thomlinson LLP in Toronto. His varied background includes more than 10 years of practicing employment and labour law at one of Canada’s premier full-service firms, as well as previous work experience with construction and building trades. As comfortable speaking with a CEO as he is with talking to workers on a job-site, Jason brings a real-world sensibility to legal and business issues, and he views his well-honed communication skills as a key asset in delivering value-added service to his clients.

Jason has advised clients in hundreds of disputes, has negotiated resolutions of many complicated workplace claims and complaints, and has appeared before numerous adjudicative bodies, including: the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

Jason has written numerous published articles and has been quoted in the media, and he frequently presents client seminars on occupational health and safety, workplace violence and harassment, termination of employment, and other workplace law topics.

Jason is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Occupational Health and Safety Sub-committee of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.

Ryan Campbell is an associate with Rubin Thomlinson LLP in Toronto. He has been practicing employment law for three years, with a focus on occupational health and safety and workplace safety & insurance. Before entering the legal profession, Ryan also spent nearly two years providing consulting services to Ontario employers with respect to workers’ compensation claims management.

As a lawyer, Ryan has defended several employers in OH&S prosecutions, assisted many organizations in meeting their OH&S compliance obligations, and delivered numerous OH&S training sessions and workshops. He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Branch, and the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Ryan is a member of the Executive Committee of the Ontario Bar Association Workplace Safety and Insurance Section, and of the Toronto Chapter of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering; and he has been featured as an author in the American Society of Safety Engineering Professional Safety magazine.
